And that's the issue. You have a tile not defined in the quadtree, and when useQuadtree is true it only loads and manipulates items in the quadtree.

Well after I messaged you about the issue, and reading the posts on here, I did a little experimentation. I was originally having the issues on v.006e and I tested all 4 formats with no joy. I updated to v.006k and retested and still not having any luck with any of the 4 formats.

Hope this helps you a little bit Eric.

Thanks. Something else to check is squareness. Terrtex. Isn’t like a shape file. Terrain textures need to be square and divisible by 2.

I noticed awhile back my system seems to struggle with terrtex files at 1024 and above, so I have all of my custom ones set for 512x512.

Posting this here for the time being... I am not getting the error for the terrain pick / put / load on this, but would like some others to give it a try.

Make sure ExtendedDebug = true and DebugOutput = true in your settings.

eric, thank you for fast response and your effort.

Unfortunately the problem reproduses for me in 006m also.

I have noticed another operation causing crash in 006k and 006m. It happens when I am loading a default route just after selecting the 'ignore and continue' option in the TDB error (incompatible tsection) window.

I see the correct data on the last operation in the detailed log (selected filename or click coordinates). Textures are .ace files of 512x size.

I turned on detailed logs and saved log output and settings from 005y (does not crash) and 006m (crashed) versions. Hope it helps you.

I think I have it figured it out..... Testing with myaroslav's setting file immediately crashed for me, which means it's a Settings issue, and that's why I couldn't replicate it...

                  The fix is simple:

                  Option 1: Go into your Settings.txt and comment out "preloadTextures" with a # sign i.e. #preloadtextures =
Option 2: Add something like "terrain.ace" or "microtex.ace" into the textbox using the v8.006 settings editor.

When that field is null or empty, it's causing a crash once a new texture is picked, and it has to place it into the small preview boxes at the edge of the larger preview image.

I'll work on a fix in the "real" version 8.006m that catches this condition before it fails for the null value.

One person confirm those steps worked... Would appreciate anyone else who experienced the terrain texture select crash to please check as well using 8.006K or lower.

                      eric, thank you once more!

Checked both options im 006k and 008m, the problem with loading textures is solved.

Eric, would this fix help with the TSRE stutter/freeze problem on the Utah Belt route that I mentioned over on Elvas Tower a week or so ago?

I added a tweak to try and use the lowest mipmap value in the 8.006m version above. Have not been able to test UB yet.

Sadly it's still unworkable Eric when trying to jump to a named station or siding etc on the UB route.

UPDATE: Russ has now kindly provided me with .ace terrtex files which have solved the problem.
