Colleagues,
Others may have found this before me, but I will describe the situation anyway. So you are laying roads? Well I find them to be much more vexing than track mainly because you may or may not have a track chart to go by if doing a prototype route, but you are not going to have a road chart. Then there many kinds of road pieces to mix/match etc. What I have found helpful is to work on a particular road for a while. For example, I just finished laying Interstate-65 from near Cave City to near Park City, KY. Now I need to lay US-31W between those points. If I just jump into the highway, and still have freeway pieces in my "recent items" it can get confusing or I may accidentally select the worng kind, which just adds error minutes to my toil. So what I do is go up under the route column and reload the reference file. This will restore the items available to the default items and since I have not yet selected anythinig, the recent items will be empty. In this way, this 87 year old noodle only has to keep track of one kind of road at a time----------.
