    TSRE Questions

I have been messing with a couple of my older routes in TSRE just to add roadbed textures along the tracks. I know how to add the textures along the track, but I am noticing on one route it perfectly follows the track or road but on another route it will add the textures in a line moving away from the track and not along the track itself.

I also seem to have an issue where everything is dark, like the sun is behind a cloud. Makes it really hard to work accurately.

I'm sure these are simple settings I am missing, but anyone have any ideas?

for you lighting issue try turning this option on or off as needed.image.png

on your other issue with paining track or road is there a road or tsection lines where no road or track is visible?

Turning on and off MSTS Shadows had no effect. This is what i'm seeing in TSRE in two different routes. In MSTS RE everything is bright and sunny.

The texture issue has only presented itself on one route near a tile edge, but the texture shows up next to or leading away from the track, not along any track or road.

Not being able to see what I am doing in the dusk environment is the bigger issue for me.

Just bumping this thread up a little for visibility.

I’m approaching about 250 miles of track laid on my WI&I White River Subdivision (formerly Black Hills Subdivision). I have been working almost exclusively in MSTS RE until I get the track and terrain work finished, at which point I will start using TSRE as well when I start doing roads. Always viewing the route at dusk apparently in TSRE makes it hard to match textures though.

I don't seem to have this issue. Make sure you have an editor.env that matches your sun.env in your route envfiles folder as that gets read by TSRE.

I have both in there, although they are both the default MSTS files.

Just for clarity, having faced this issue myself, the default editor.env may not be the one used by all routes. In my own route building I've changed mine. What I do when facing this problem is copy the complete EVNFILES folder from a known working route into the folder of the route I have the problem with. Then all works A-Ok.
( I have sperate installs for MSTS and OR so changing the ENVFILES has no effect should I wish to run the route in MSTS )

Digging around in the code, there is a setting for default sun position. Let me check to see if that is something that can be tweaked.

To be clear the issue is not present in MSTS RE, bright and sunny there on all the routes I have opened. It’s only in TSRE that I have the darkness issue.

Maybe you're having a problem with OpenAL.
