    Train videos from a friend

I wanted to share a few videos on here, that some may appreciate. A good friend of mine does a lot of videos in the New England region, sometimes in Eastern Canada too. You can find all his videos here Maine Train Chaser - YouTube

First video I wanted to show off of his, is of the MNR 903 and MNR 901 jobs. Job 903 of the Maine Northern Railway is based between Squa Pan, Maine and Oakfield, Maine on the old Bangor & Aroostook mainline, dubbed the Madawaska Sub. This train showcases two of the 16 total GP31M-ECO units from Progress Rail. Eventually four "Booster" units as RDMT's will be showing up sometime this year. Job 901 is based between Oakfield, Maine and Millinocket, Maine on the BAR, still part of the Madawaska Sub. Typically this train has been placed with a pair of SD70M-2's and sometimes a GP38-2 or GP31M-ECO for additional power, depending on the tonnage. 901 hands off traffic to job 910 in Millinocket Yard, and returns to Oakfield.
The GMTX 2649 used to be leased to Vermont Railway in 2019-2020 during the detours over the NECR. I operated it a few times, suggested it stayed, but it was sent back to GMTX, where NBSR later picked it up in 2020-2021, funny how a year or so after, I followed and went to work for the NBSR/EMRY.

The other video I wanted to show off, is of the CPKC (CP) 121 train, which is based from Brownville Jct, Maine to Montreal, QC (St. Luc Yard). This train mostly has traffic off the NBSR from Saint John, NB, including the massive amounts of container traffic, that Maine really hasn't seen much of until the deal took place between Hapag-Lloyd, NB&M, and CP before it became CPKC. Other traffic such as the scrap cars towards the head end, and the empty propane cars towards the rear end, come off the Bangor Sub of CPKC, (former BAR KI, Millinocket, and Searsport Subs) Some mixed freight comes down off the Maine Northern as well, such as the empty limestone slurry tanks heading back to Omya in Florence, VT. The CPKC 120 returns later in the afternoon with traffic for CPKC, NBSR and MNRY in Brownville Jct, where the jobs of EMR 120, 910, and sometimes 908 typically deal with.

He has a couple, this is the only one I remember, back when I was training as engineer on the 910 job in late winter/early spring. This spot coming up to the detector can be tricky, it's a downhill spot and a short while after the detector is goes back up hill, but if you don't play your cards right, the rear end will slam into you. However, if you go below 8mph, the man in the box gives up.
