Well as usual it's been a while but I do go back here to see what is new (and old).
I did hear rumors of a Run8 V4 but of course nothing official. I thought we had a wishlist somewhere on here (perhaps that was Depot who knows).
Anyways I've always wanted to see AI switching but I'll give a more simpler request that would certainly get me back into the sim. My Raildriver is collecting dust under my bed right now and the game has lied dormant.
I had some fun with something called Railroader which is still under development in early access. Now for me the limited scope is where I eventually got bored, but honestly for what it is, it did exactly what I expected and more.
Run8 also surprised me over the years, but I think as time moved on the potential became more of a dream perhaps. It appears as though Run8 is more comfortable in just releasing more DLC and i'm not sure what these updates are really adding to the sim anymore. Maybe I'm not paying attention but I haven't seen anything like the humps, or the AI humps, the AI dispatcher that got me back into Run8 to buy V3.
The trains for me were always as real as it gets. But the railroad was not. Operations on the big worlds meant you need to have a big network or you just run single player in an imaginary operation with pretend trains moving around with jobs that take days not hours to finish a cycle.
If Run8 was to learn one thing from Railroader and perhaps the mod community here is what I would love to see. There is a waypoint system that allows pathing in Railroader that I would love to see added into Run8. In fact the waypoint queue which is a mod for Railroader would be the ultimate. Sure it's not full blown AI switching but it does allow you to queue up plenty of moves while you can focus on operating other tasks around the system. Other than full AI switching this is the closest Run8 single player or small MP will ever be to "as real as it gets".
I tried my best to program an RTS Railroad Transportation System but I'm not as skilled unfortunately. Heck I even tried with AI but I can't learn the game engines as they are too complex. This is the one thing that would get me back into a real train simulation. Otherwise it's ATS or whatever else I can find that keeps me going for now
Feel free to pass this idea on to the powers that be. Yes I would gladly start streaming sessions again if this was avaialble.
Thanks
Sean
