    TrainSimulations CSX SW1500 release

The gentlemen at Train Simulations are at it again with another release of the EMD end cab SW1500 series, this time CSX themed with Family Lines and Seaboard patched units.

Does anyone have an idea for when the Shasta expansion will be released?

Open Rails 2026-09-13 12-06-47.png Open Rails 2026-09-13 12-07-50.png I have a 3D cab that fits an earlier private draft of Chris' SW1500, but the models would need to be set up a certain way for a user to pair them, so it's probably a no-go. More than happy to let TS use it as I've really got not much use for it at the moment. It was more of a fun experiment and a source of switcher cab parts on the off chance I make a SW7/8/9/600/900/1200 someday (i.e. a later version with the dedicated switcher stand).

3D cab or not, this was a pleasant surprise from TrainSimulations. Some of us waited years to get the opportunity to gather up some high quality switcher units like these.

Now this is very positive and interesting. Since I have tried similar work in private, it will take TS to take the bait and shoehorn this cab in. If worse comes to worse it will be one of us who will have to shoehorn this in the SW1500 by scaling. In my experience it is always the limitation in ORTS that has the culling set in stone from the viewer position. Maybe that has changed.

Some posts have been pruned from the thread, and will be moved to a dedicated topic on 3D cabs...
