In search of the tall tale "Packerland"

    Hello there,

I'm pretty sure this topic has been covered several times in the past, but here goes nothing.

This youtube video posted by supermarioworld04 13 years ago popped up in my recommendations. (You know, youtube likes to be like that) My question is, is this the same "packerland" route that Eric O. has talked about in the previous years? I would like to know if someone knows about this because if the project is still deemed "open for editing", I would like to invest in a lot of time into it.

Of course, I'm talking about something that was years ago. If anyone knows the owner of said route, I would like to speak with them before I open up a brand new route in TSRE5. Thank you for your Time.

Yes, it's the same Packerland. What was originally envisioned was going to stretch from Milwaukee to Marquette and Altoona, which didn't happen because it was simply way too much.

The route got pared back to be more Green Bay centric, and as of today, Green Bay to Escanaba and Channing exist with full track and partial scenery for both the MILW and the CNW. There's also some track placed from Green Bay to Fond Du Lac, but that is very much incomplete and a work in infrequent progress...

The NSL route in the video is something Metra322 was working on, along with the CNW Kenosha. He's still around working on a CN/IC route at the moment, but I don't know what became of those other sections.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

I haven't been working on CNW Milwaukee Division/NSL since I got sidetracked(pun intended) by the advent Pokemon Go. Lately, I've been focused on the CN/IC. I may eventually start doing work on the CNW/NSL megaroute again.

        Good Evening to you all,

Unfortunate family matters have taken effect in the past few weeks with my mother being diagnosed with early signs of dementia. Thus, the reason why I have been inactive from this thread. My apologies for not communicating this sooner.

As goes for the topic, I appreciate you, Eric, for getting back to me and shedding some light on this question that I have had for quite some time. I can understand that a project can soon become way too much. As for Metra322 , Very interesting to know that you are somewhat behind this as well.

Since the bitter cold is here to stay in SE WI, means more time inside. There's only so much more to do in my little shack with a bed. I have a good amount of resources and documentation saved on my computer for said project, but any help or "in need of help" would be better. If there is no need to go on any further with this topic, then the matter has been justified. Once again, my apologies for the communication, but thank you so much for responding. 🙂

I wouldn't say that Packerland has been too much... it's just the lowest priority route I have in work, with two others that have taken up more of my time in the past few years. I'll eventually get back to it, but as you have experienced firsthand, family matters were the priority for the past few years. What time I have left often gets taken up running this site.
