We all know the song and story. (For a detailed version http://www.salisburypost.com/area/284537876723188.php )The song mentions "It was on this grade that he lost his average (Airbrakes in some versions) you can see what a jump he made" While trainsiming over the C&TSRR and making a lot of minor applications to keep my speed down, I belive I duplicated what may have happened to engineer Broady. It took more and more air to get my required stoppage. Had this continued I would have lost my brakes and followed in the #1102 flangesteps. I figured that I had turned off my air compressor while stopped at Cumbres station and had neglected to turn it back on. Could this major mistake have happened to Joe "Steve" Broady and Southern 97?
