    the-train.de Closing December 31st

Yet another site closing...... The owners seem unwilling to lifeboat their library, so if someone wants to take on the task of rescuing items for preserving, the Demised Site policy would apply.

If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

I think I have a couple of items from their file library on an old SSD from when I started modding the PRR-ER. Specifically a couple of roundhouse models and diesel engine houses.

I'll have to review my files, I downloaded stuff from that site back when.

Keep in mind the site does have to be demised if we house items that have stipulations in the EULA as to where they can be shared.

Fortunately, the site is still there to download from. Having advanced notice is how almost all of UKTS was able to be saved.

If you wish to upload items you have from your own visits to the site, send me a PM first.

I just tried to log in, and I get a screen that says the site is offline in maintenance mode.

That's unfortunate. Big loss for the German community.

Good thing the shutdown is with a 10 month heads-up so their file library can be saved.

As far as I can tell with my limited German language skills, another announcement on there says the maintenance will be complete on Monday approx 9am (assuming central european time). So you'll probably have better luck trying tomorrow.

Feel free to upload anything from CLW provided it wasn't payware to begin with.

                        Good point Jan!

I have backed up those two topics (all text-content, attachments and external images that weren't 404'd).

Automated it, so can easily do more if there is anything else important on the forum. Just need the topic URL's.
