There seems to have been a change made which, as soon as you try to log on to the site, throws up a data protection notice and will not allow you progress without accepting the notice. I have found a work around which involves calling up the privacy policy on screen, which then makes the log in / register option active.

I know that US data protection laws are much more 'relaxed' than those in Europe but I wonder whether this change has been part of the anti-bot strategy which has had unforeseen consequences?

This hasn't changed in the last two years, but if an IP can't be identified as coming from one of the more relaxed geo locations, I know that the forum software assumes disclosures are required.

I'm glad to hear that is the standard procedure. Every time I am logged off, I have to go through the procedure described above. No problem.

About two years ago someone got my password off the dark web and spammed this website. It's a long story and I'll tell you what happened if you really want to know. Ever since then I always use a VPN.

I've only just caught up with the reply, it has only been like this for me for a couple of months. I'll have a root around and see whether I may have inadvertantly changed something at my end.

The vpn will not protect you from these password hacks.
They obtain the passwords from websites, not your computer.
