I have two stop signals installed on my Chiltern route at the exit to Paddington station. The first signal, outlined in yellow, is my model of GWR Ground Shunt signal. The second, outlined in red, is a British Railways 2 aspect colour light home signal. This signal refuses to clear to green. It seems that somehow the shunt signal is blocking the action of the colour light signal. If I remove the shunt signal, then the colour light does behave correctly, i.e. it clears to green when necessary. If I reverse the positioning of the two signals, i.e. with the colour light preceding the shunt, then the colour light blocks the shunt from clearing.

Here is the script for the two signals.
Any ideas anyone what is causing this problem and how to solve it?
I can sit there just going crazy on the controls, and no matter the load go from notch 1 to 8 and back over and over, slam the train brakes, and loco/independant on and off like Homer Simpson, all on off back and forward, and I've never broke a coupler. Never get wheelspin except on a decent grade.
I can't imagine in a real locomotive I could be so rough and treat it like its on 'no damage mode' and nothing happen.

Colleagues,

I need some help. I want to create the most simple activities in order to test routes that are under construction. I have the original instructions for creatinig them but is there a simple, no frills way to create an activity. For example, I was able to create a few activities with MSTS which I have on a old XP machine and they work using ORTS. I also have over 100 consists counting payware, freeware, and "myware", and I have no problem creating a route using the track viewer add-on with ORTS but for the life of me I can't seem to get a viable activity using the TSRE activity function. For example, there will be no opposing traffic etc. All I want to do is be reasonably sure that the mileposts are in, sound zones, etc. before I release a route as working but incomplete, where I want incomplete to really mean -- "route could be a lot more detailed".

On some of my routes, such as the CNO&TP 2nd district, I have included some sections that were abandoned not so long ago. For example in 1963 all of the tunnels but 4 were eliminated and in one instance a totally new line, some 10 miles in length was involved. At the ends of the section, there is a manual #10 turnout so that if one is curious, one can set up a route over the old line, which I need to do to check it -- BEWARE, THE OLD ROUTES WON'T CLEAR DOUBLE STACKS. On the first district, a new line about 6 miles in length bypassed one tunnel and this was done around 1940.

I'm trying to figure out whether version 161.1 or version 171.3 is the latest stable version of OR. Iv'e read on ET.com that 171.3 is the latest stable version and sure enough the splash screen says it's the stable version. However, the openrails.org website is still handing out copies of 161.1. What's the story?

So you can see in the image, I need to pick up the empty centerbeam on the left side. Behind the reefer on my consist there is a hopper with 14 hoppers behind that one. Not a long train (17 cars) but I wondered about the options I have to keep it simple and relative realistic.

1. Reverse the whole consist into the siding and hang the empty centerbeam (cb) on the back and head back to home base. But I wondered if a small siding like this would handle extra weight and lots of cars backing into it?

2. Stop where I am, uncouple and pick the cb up. Simple. But I am also leaving the rest of the train on the main line. Which is ok if I have time and no other trains are approaching. But I feel uneasy about doing so.

3. Pull into the passing siding. Take it to the far end, tie it down, uncouple and blast back on the main line, pick up the cb, blast back, couple to the rest of the train and head back. Main consist is off the main line but I'm also using now both tracks. And takes longer.

4. Who cares and just go option 1 and be done with it lol.

Conundrum time.

I've created a new route, Oro light rail for Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. I've created a web page about it (http://www.stevedunham.50megs.com/oro/oro.html) using screen shots from the route, to illustrate the route concept. So that people unfamiliar with train simming can operate the route if they wish, I want to include instructions for adding the route to Open Rails content once they download and install Open Rails. I have Route and Trainset folders. But I guess that they would need the Global (in my case, MSTS) folder as well. The whole thing? Is it Microsoft proprietary? I would like to provide simple instructions and include those with the route, which otherwise is ready for beta testing.

If this topic is already addressed in "Open Rails Discussion and Help," please point me to it, and I apologize for the duplication. I searched the topic for "installation" and got 34 pages of results, and I didn't look at all 34 pages. I also looked at a few tutorials on the Trainsim home page but didn't see the above questions answered.

Thank you for any help you can give.
